PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease a connection loss and to increase the strength for a bending stress. SOLUTION: The split sleeve for optical communication 1 has a slit 1a in an axial direction, which extends from an opening to the other opening of a cylindrical body, and optical fibers inserted from the both openings are connected, an inner face slit boundary part 1c, which is the boundary part between the slit 1a and an inner peripheral face 1b, and an outer face slit boundary part 1d, which is the boundary part between the slit 1a and an outer peripheral face 1f, have a smooth arc-shaped cross section, which continues the inner peripheral face 1b or the outer peripheral face 1f to the slit, respectively.
