PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera video image monitoring apparatus and a camera video image monitoring method for selecting an optimum camera and carrying out broadcasting while monitoring cameras installed in each of areas on the basis of area information provided by an information providing agency. SOLUTION: The camera video image monitoring apparatus 10 is characterized in that a photographing camera selection means of the camera video image monitoring apparatus 10 selects a camera 1 for photographing a video image being an object of a broadcasting video image from among the cameras 1 installed in nationwide areas on the basis of the area information provided by the information providing agency acquired by an area information acquisition means 11, a multi-video-image display means 15 displays a plurality of video images of the selected camera and a video image selection means 16 selects the video image being the broadcasting video image from among the plurality of displayed video images.
