PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair protective agent enabling the hair to be imparted with freshness and pliability and capable of improving hair trimness as well through restoring hair moisture-holding function. SOLUTION: The hair protective agent contains preferably 0.01-1 mass% of a basic amino acid( preferably L-arginine ) and preferably 0.005-0.5 mass% of a macromolecular compound of general formula(I)( wherein, m is 4-7, n is 3-6, m+n=10 ).
