PURPOSE: To provide a rhythm generator in which a musically natural rhythm (a sound length column) is automatically composed and outputted and to provide an automatic composition machine in which musical note columns, that include rhythm components (sound length columns) and melody components (sound pitch columns), are automatically composed and outputted. CONSTITUTION: An input device inputs the sound length columns of original note columns and motif data (original rhythm data and original melody data) that express the sound pitch columns. A CPU data processes the original melody data by functions F10 and F20 and composes a melody control data PC that controls the composing of a melody. A pitch column composition means F31 of the CPU composes pitch columns (melody components) based on the PC and code progress data I3. A sound length composing means F32 of the CPU data processes the original rhythm based on the rhythm control data from a rhythm control data generating means that is incorporated and composes sound length columns (rhythm components). |
