The sealing device includes an outer door seal (10) on an edging flange (15) of the door, which also fulfils the function of a gap filler (11). The outer door seal has a sealing cavity (29), a sealing lip (32) and a positioning lip (26) so that it lies effectively against the edging flange and also provides a seal for the bodywork side wall (5) and the inner sheet (9).
