[PROBLEMS] To provide a 3-dimensional video display device capable of not only merely 3-dimensionally displaying all the characters in a document but also superimposing a pictogram or the like on a 2-dimensional character so that the pictogram appears 3-dimensionally. [CONSTITUTION] For example, a mail received includes a text code and a pictogram code. A character image by the text code is processed 2-dimensionally while a pictogram image by the pictogram code is processed 3-dimensionally. By the 3-dimensional processing, an observer observes a pictogram LP (shown by a dotted line) of a vehicle shifted leftward over a parallax barrier by only his/her right eye R and observes a pictogram RP (shown by a dotted line) of a vehicle shifted rightward over a parallax barrier by only his/her left eye L. Thus, the pictogram of the vehicle is recognized (3-dimensionally) at a position coming out of the display plane. That is, not only the characters in a document are displayed 3-dimensionally but also a pictogram or the like is shown 3-dimensionally while being superimposed on the 2-dimensional characters.
