PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically determine whether or not a server has an error, thereby shutting off or rebooting a server without waiting for a network to be restored by a network manager.

SOLUTION: This device for shutting off and supplying electric power comprises a power input means for receiving the supply of power; a power output means connected to a device connected to the network for supplying power to the device using the power supplied from the power input means; a processor capable of sending a signal to the device and receiving a response signal to the signal from the device; and a control means which stops or executes the power supply according to the processor's instruction.
