PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for die casting, wherein the entrapment of oxides and gases into a molten metal is prevented by lessening the contact area between the molten metal and the gases in a casting sleeve, and a high-quality cast product is easily obtained at a low cost. SOLUTION: The device for die casting is provided with: a casting sleeve 5 having a molten metal introducing opening 51 and communicating with a metallic die cavity C; a molten metal supplying means for supplying a prescribed amount of molten metal to the casting sleeve 5; and a plunger 6 which slides inside the casting sleeve 5 to pour the molten metal supplied in the sleeve 5 into the metallic die cavity C.
