PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for a plasma display panel having metallic partitions capable of preventing the generation of an erroneous discharge of an address discharge and a decrease of address voltage margins. SOLUTION: In the plasma display panel in which the partition 15 for compartmentalizing a discharge cell C is comprised of a metallic base material 15a coated by an insulation layer 15b, the metallic base material 15a of the partition plate 15 is grounded and fixed at a prescribed potential in an address period WC of the image display period when the selection of the discharge cell C to be subjected maintenance discharge for image formation is performed by discharge light emission when a scanning pulse SP is applied to a row electrode Y and data pulses DP 1 to (n) are applied to a column electrode D after a reset discharge is performed.
