PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element with a good light-emitting property, having high light-emitting efficiency. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element has a diffraction grating 2 on a surface layer of a substrate 1, and an organic EL layer 5, containing a light-emitting layer interposed between a positive electrode 4 and a negative electrode 6, is arranged on the diffraction grating through a middle layer 3.
