PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide profile data, by a relatively simple means, which has an improvement in the position resolution of a predetermined part. SOLUTION: This method for measuring the profile of sheet-like materials is provided with both a sensor main body for measuring physical characteristics of a sheet-like material by scanning in a width direction and a sensor position detection means for detecting the position of the sensor main body in the width direction as pulse signals, collects a plurality of samples of measuring signals outputted from the sensor main body to one pulse width of the pulse signals from the sensor position detection means, averages them for every one pulse width from the sensor position detection means, and outputs them as one profile signal. A designated region is provide for a part of the width of the sheet-like material, and a plurality of profile signals are outputted to the one pulse width in the designated region.
