PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a mold for pressing glass, which has a fine structure and the surface roughness of which is extremely small. SOLUTION: After depositing silicon carbide (2) on the surface of a silicon mold (1), the deposited silicon carbide and a silicon carbide substrate (4) are joined, and then the silicon mold (1) is removed by etching.
