PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new means for regulating cell growth, which has an action mechanism and a control mechanism different from those of a conventional means, especially a new tissue-specific cell growth regulator. SOLUTION: Mab21L1 protein and a gene encoding the protein are obtained. The protein is proved to have a role related to cell growth in a specific organ or tissue formation process.
