2.1 The use of triethylene glycol di-2-ethylhexanoate-abbreviated to 3G8 or 3GEH-as low-polarity plasticizer for polyvinyl butyral foils (PVB foil) has hitherto been restricted to PVB grades with a polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) content below 19.5% by weight. 2.2 It is proposed that one or more non-ionic surfactants is/are used as an additive increasing the solubility or compatibility of the low-polarity plasticizer in the PVB resin. As a result of this it is possible to use low-polarity plasticizers such as 3G8, in particular even in mixtures based on standard PVB. The non-ionic surfactant used comprises a poly-ethoxylated aliphatic or aromatic alcohol containing at least 6 carbon atoms in the alcohol fraction, with an average degree of ethoxylation of greater than or equal to 2. 2.3 The invention is used for plasticized PVB mixtures, in particular even those based on standard PVB, for producing foils for laminated safety glass.
