VALVE BONNET SEAL ASSEMBLY

A balance-plug cage style control valve has substantially reduced body-bonnet bolt loading with an elastic seal (46). The elastic seal assembly includes an annular seal (46) having an elastic region (49), a compression surface, and at least one sealing surface positioned in a channel (45) within a valve cage (40) mounted inside the valve body. At least one shoulder (25) on the valve bonnet (14) engages the elastic seal (46) to deform the elastic region to place the sealing surface of the seal in contact with at least one of the valve bonnet or the valve cage to form a fluid seal.
