PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus using microcapsules which can be destroyed by external stimulation, to specify components of materials for producing efficient ultrasonic vibration to the microcapsules, and to provide a measuring device for the measurement of the internal pressure of hollow microcapsules. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, reactive substances which cause a coloring reaction when mixed with each other are dispersed at the inside and outside of microcapsules, prescribed capsule walls among the microcapsules are destroyed by applying a prescribed ultrasonic stimulus corresponding to color component information, the prescribed reactive substances diffuse, mix and cause a coloring reaction, and printing is performed. An oil substance is incorporated into liquid contained in the microcapsules, an oil substance is further incorporated into an outside support material, viscosity is set at 1 to 40 cP, and the microcapsules are efficiently vibrated and destroyed.
