PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote video image display technique capable of switching a video image pickup apparatus without inevitably inputting the ID etc. of the video image pickup apparatus, in receiving a video image of the video image pickup apparatus provided at a remote place and displaying the image. SOLUTION: An image pickup position during imaging is calculated on the basis of the present focal length, the present imaging direction and the installation position of a video image pickup apparatus currently used for displaying, and a video image pickup apparatus to be a switching destination is determined on the basis of the calculated imaging position and the installation positions of respective video image pickup apparatuses. For example, a video image pickup apparatus near the imaging position is selected, video images imaged by the selected image pickup apparatus are presented to a user, and an instruction for the selection of the selected image pickup apparatus is received to decide the switching destination. The photographing direction and a focal distance are controlled so that the imaging position which is being imaged by the decided video image pickup apparatus can be imaged, and the video image pickup apparatus currently used for display is switched to the video image pickup apparatus.
