PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turbo decoding method in which it can be decoded whether or not a decoding processing is completed with a very high efficiency. SOLUTION: When the turbo decoder begins to perform decoding in a step S2, a soft decision value of an element decoder is derived in a step S3 and an ECR (estimated correct ratio) criterion derivation part estimates ECR of a current frame from the soft decision value in a step S4. When it is decided in a step S5 from the result of comparison with a last ECR value and a maximum frequency of decoding repetition that the decoding by the turbo decoder is completed, a hard decision result and a decoding result are outputted in a step S6, but when not, the frequency of repetition is counted up in a step S7 and a return to the step S2 is made to repeat said processing.
