PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the burden on an inspection operator in detecting the leakage of a large-scale vessel such as an LNG (liquefied natural gas) storage tank, to save a record of the change in color of a leaking point, or the raw data of the detection result, and to automatically detect the failed part so as to get rid of an oversight of the failed part. SOLUTION: The leakage detection apparatus is composed of a traveling camera part 10, a control part 30, and a note personal computer 40. The traveling camera part 10 includes a truck 11, a camera 12, a filter 13, an upper surface illumination 14, an inclination angle illumination 15, a grip 16, and wheels 17, and transmits image data taken by the camera 12 to the note personal computer 40 via the control part 30. The image data is binarized by the processing of the note personal computer 40. When a black image is included, it is estimated that the change in color of chemicals due to a reactive gas, namely, the gas leakage part, exists, and an alarm is generated.
