PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring matter for thermal transfer recording which satisfies conditions required for the coloring matter for thermal transfer recording, in particular such conditions as hue, color density and light resistance of a recorded article, an ink for thermal transfer recording using it, and a sheet for thermal transfer recording.

SOLUTION: This isothiazoleazo coloring matter for thermal transfer recording has a chemical structure of general formula (I) wherein R1is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group which may have a substituent or an aryl group which may have a substituent; R2is an acyl group which may have a substituent or an alkylsulfonyl group which may have a substituent; R3and R4are respectively independently an alkyl group, an alkoxyalkyl group, an alkoxyl group, an aryl group, an aryloxy group or a trifluoromethyl group; and m and n are respectively independently an integer of 1-3.
