<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a colorant dispersion of high storage stability, to provide a method for producing the same, and to provide a water-based ink for inkjet printing use comprising the colorant dispersion and having high storage stability and the water resistance of prints. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the colorant dispersion comprises the step(1) of mixing together a colorant, an ionic dispersant, a volatile neutralizing agent, a nonvolatile neutralizing agent, an organic solvent and water followed by carrying out a dispersion treatment and the step(2) of removing the organic solvent and the volatile neutralizing agent from the resultant dispersion.
