<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pictorial symbol display/decoder capable of solving the disadvantage of Braille. <P>SOLUTION: The pictorial symbol display has a style as if abacuses with four beads are lined up in three rows. A single bead has a size of about 1 mm in diameter such that even an unexperienced person can discriminate the beads by touch. When a user gives an instruction by voices to the pictorial symbol display, three pieces of the pictorial symbols of granular patterns resembling Kokeshi dolls (Japanese cylindrical wooden dolls) appear on a touch display and the granular patterns are increased or decreased by a change in the voices.
