PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prohibit a speed-change operation in a continuous corner district and rapidly release the prohibition of the speed-change operation when a vehicle comes out of the corner district. SOLUTION: A transmission ECU for speed-change control is installed in the vehicle. A lateral G indicating the turning state of the vehicle is inputted from a lateral G sensor into the ECU, and based on the lateral G, the ECU calculates a lateral G change rate. Also, an allowable acceleration range and an allowable change rate range are stored in the ECU. When the vehicle enters into the continuous corner and the lateral G exceeds the allowable acceleration range, gear hold control is performed (symbol B1), and when the lateral G is stored within the allowable acceleration range again, determination for release of the gear hold control is started (symbol B2). In the determination for release, it becomes the requirements for the release that the lateral G is stored within the allowable acceleration range and the rate of variation in the lateral G is stored within the allowable change rate. In the turning back in the continuous corner, the lateral G change rate does not meet the requirements for release, and the gear hold control is performed continuously (symbol C).
