PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic image processing method by which color correction is made possible without color failure influence independently of an LATD (large area transmittance density) exposure scheme to take into account a threshold for high-chromaticity pixel removal using experimental rules, or weighting conditions. SOLUTION: The photographic image processing method includes: a film image input step of generating color image data by reading a film image with an imaging device, the step of generating a density histogram for each of RGB (red, green and blue) color components from the color image data; the step of arithmetically deriving a base density of a film from the color image data; the step of arithmetically deriving a relative extension/reduction power with which a superimposing area of RGB becomes maximum, by extending/reducing the density histogram with the base density as a reference; and the step of performing conversion process of the RGB components of pixels of the color image data on the basis of the relative extension/reduction power.
