PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EGR cooler improved in heat exchange efficiency with respect to the temperature change of cooling water led into a shell regarding the EGR cooler for an EGR device. SOLUTION: This EGR cooler for the EGR device leads cooling water in and out of the shell enclosing a plurality of tubes, through cooling water lead-in and lead-out pipes to heat-exchange EGR gas flowing down in the tubes, with the cooling water led into the shell. In the EGR cooler, the inner diameters of the tubes are made sequentially larger toward the tubes arranged downstream from the tubes arranged upstream of a cooling water passage in the shell from the cooling water lead-in pipe to the cooling water lead-out pipe.
