PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compression ignition type internal combustion engine which expands an operation area (an engine load area), capable of lean premix compression ignition combustion effective in reducing exhaust of NOx (nitrogen oxides) and a PM (particulate matter : an unregulated substance), in the compression ignition type internal combustion engine, that is, "a diesel engine" using gas oil as main fuel. SOLUTION: In a fuel injector of this internal combustion engine, the compression ignition type internal combustion engine uses liquid fuel as the main fuel; and is characterized by injecting any fluid of incombustible compressed gas and volatile liquid fuel into an intake port 3.
