PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member for a molten metal bath such as a dipping roll of continuous molten metal hot dipping equipment, and to provide a thermal spraying material for preventing erosion by molten metal by dipping in molten metal such as molten zinc and preventing adhesion of dross to a coated surface. SOLUTION: The thermal spraying material is formed of a material with boride and carbide mixed therein, and contains no metal elements. The boride consists of one or more kinds of MoB, Mo<SB>2</SB>B, CrB and Cr<SB>2</SB>B, and the carbide consists of one or more kinds of Cr<SB>3</SB>C<SB>2</SB>, Cr<SB>23</SB>C<SB>6</SB>, WC and W<SB>2</SB>C, and the content ratio of the boride is 10-90 wt.%. A cermet film is provided on a lower layer of a coating layer of this material to enhance the adhesive force, or another oxide layer is formed on an upper layer thereof to enhance the dross adhesion resistance.
