PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment-including organic material that retains the orientation properties even under high temperature conditions and has an extremely high density of the second-order nonlinear group and high second-order nonlinear coefficient. SOLUTION: Di(propargyloxy)benzoic acid ester is represented by the formula (wherein R is a monovalent organic group bearing a chromophore and an aromatic ring). The polymer comprises the ester.
