PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating which controls winding and growing or climbing and growing of liana on a architectural structure such as a wire net, fence, concrete, strut, rope, etc., and to provide a method for controlling the growth. SOLUTION: The coating for controlling growth of liana comprises a compound having auxin activity such as 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid, 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxybutyric acid,α-(2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxy)propionic acid, 3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridyloxyacetic acid, trimethylammonium 3,5,6-tirchloro-2-pyridyloxyacetate, butoxyethyl 3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridyloxyacetate, (RS)-2-(2,4-dichloro-m-tolyloxy)propionanilide,α-(2-naphtoxy)propionanilide, their salts and derivatives as active ingredient.
