PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a branching light guide capable of uniformly distributing light without lowering luminous flux (light quantity) per unit area. SOLUTION: A branching light guide 1 is equipped with a long translucent main light guide body 11 and branched light guide bodies 12 which are formed by being divided into four branches from the tip end face 11b of the main light guide body 11 in the same direction. The cross sections 12b of the branched light guide bodies 12, in the same distance from the tip end face 11b, are each identical in the area, with the sum total of the areas made equal to the cross section of the main light guide body 11.
