The invention relates to a hood (1), particularly for a protective garment (2), preferably for protective and/or military purposes, such as an ABC protective garment or the like, wherein the hood (1) has a peripheral elasti c hem (3) for forming an opening for the face (4), said opening being provided for receiving a breathing mask (5), wherein the hem (3) is placed on the breathing mask (5) during utilization. In order to achieve or improve sealin g of the transition area between the hem (3) and the breathing mask (5), at least one peripheral sealing element (6) for ensuring sealed placement on th e breathing mask (5) is provided on the side of the hem (3) facing the opening for the face (4).
