Disclosed is the use of asymmetrically substituted urea derivatives of gener al formula (I), wherein R1 and R2 independently represent a linear or branched aliphatic hydrocarbon radical comprising 1 to 4 C atoms, as accelerators in combination with dicyandiamide as a latent hardener for epoxy resin systems bases on optionally halogenated bisphenols A or F and resorcinol or tetrakis - phenyl-olethane. The inventive accelerator/hardener combination has the advantage of providing excellent reactivity and very good stability during storage, for example. Furthermore, the correspondingly hardened resins have excellent mechanical properties.
