PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a specified pattern by using a film containing a dichroic dye or iodine, a specified polymer and a photosensitive agent and uniaxially orienting the film. SOLUTION: A raw web film (A) containing a dichroic dye and a polymer which can be decomposed with light is uniaxially stretched by stretching treatment to obtain a photosensitive polarizing film (B). Since the molecules which constitute the photosensitive polarizing film (B) are uniaxially oriented, the film (B) has polarizing ability. Then, the photosensitive polarizing film (B) is irradiated with light through a photomask, decomposition of the polymer which can be decomposed with light occurs in the irradiated part. By developing the film having the decomposed polymer, a positive pattern corresponding to the part not irradiated with light is formed. The molecules in the positive pattern maintain the orientation state generated when the film is formed. Therefore, the positive pattern has the same polarizing ability as in the process of pattern forming. |
