PURPOSE: A high temperature warning apparatus and a high temperature warning method are provided to protect a user from burning, by applying operating voltages and indicating a high temperature condition even during use or power cut-off. CONSTITUTION: A high temperature warning apparatus comprises a temperature sensor(64) for sensing temperature of a cooking vessel(62) and/or an induction heating coil(48); a micro processor(60) for comparing the temperature input from the temperature sensor and a preset temperature, and generating a control signal in accordance with the result of the comparison; and a display unit(58) for receiving the control signal from the micro processor, and displaying a high temperature warning message.
