An organic electroluminescence device comprising a substrate, a first electrode, an organic electroluminescence layer and a second electrode laminated on the substrate in this order, and a passivation layer laminated on the outside of the second electrode. A film thickness t, which is a distance from a surface of the first electrode to the outer surface of the passivation layer in an area devoid of any foreign particle on a portion of the first electrode associated with the organic EL layer, is larger than the size of any foreign particle which is present on the first electrode.
