<p>An integrated opto-electronic device (100) incorporates an electro-absorption modulator (10) able to deliver a data carrying output modulated optical signal (Sf) and an electronic control element (20) able to drive the modulator. The modulator comprises a number of optically coupled modulation sections (11, 12, 13), each having an electrode (1, 2, 3) and each being able to receive an optical signal provided by the adjacent modulation section arranged upstream with respect to the sense of optical propagation (Z). The electronic control element comprises: (a) some means of distributed electric amplification able to deliver to each of the modulation sections a control amplified modulated electric signal (V1, V2, V3); (b) an electric propagation line (21), for the control signals, that is equipped with a plurality of sections, called electrode sections, corresponding to the electrodes. An independent claim is also included for a transmission system incorporating this integrated opto-electronic device.</p> |
