A cracker has a cracker base formed of yeast-loosened dough, a particulate layer of cheese, meat products or vegetables and a binder layer of swollen carbohydrate or a derivative on the particulate layer. A cracker has: (i) a cracker base formed of yeast-loosened dough; (ii) a total water content below ca. 20 (especially below ca. 10)wt.% and an A wvalue of below ca. 0.85, measured as per Food Consumption Regulations (Section 35, Lebensmittelbedarfsguetergesetz 06.00-3 and -2 respectively); (iii) a particulate layer of cheese, meat products or vegetables; and (iv) a binder layer of swollen carbohydrate or a derivative on the particulate layer.
