PURPOSE: A plasma display panel is provided to simplify a fabricating process by forming a black matrix on the same plane on which sustain electrodes are formed and to improve contrast by maximizing the area of the black matrix formed on an upper substrate. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display panel includes barrier ribs(54) for defining discharge cells, sustain electrode pairs(Z) intersecting the barrier ribs, and a black matrix(58) formed on the same plane on which the sustain electrode pairs are formed and arranged in parallel with the sustain electrode pairs and barrier ribs. The black matrix includes the first black layer(58a) formed opposite to the barrier ribs and the second black layer(58b) crossing the first black layer.
