PURPOSE: A hard handoff method between MSCs(Mobile Switching Centers) during alerting is provided to guarantee mobility of a mobile station and enhance service quality by heightening a success rate of hard handoff. CONSTITUTION: When an MS(Mobile Station) requests call origination, a BTS(Base Transceiver Subsystem) sends the origination request to a BSC(Base Station Controller). At this time, a traffic channel setup and vocoder resource allocation procedure is performed between the BTS and the BSC. The BSC requests a call setup from an MSC(Mobile Switching Center), and the MSC transmits a response to the request and alerting to the BSC. The BSC transmits the alerting to the MS, and from this point, handoff is possible between MSCs. As the BSC transmits the alerting to the MS, the MSC transmits call connection to the BSC. The BSC transmits the call connection to the MS and a response to the connection to the MSC, and since then, a traffic state is maintained.
