PROCESS FOR PRODUCING HYDROXYL GROUP-CONTAINING COMPOUND BY USING VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF ACID CATALYST

PURPOSE: The process is provided to produce a hydroxyl group-containing compound by using very small amount of an acid catalyst, which reduces a catalyst recovering process and a catalyst neutralizing process largely and dose not need a catalyst regeneration and a catalyst exchange. CONSTITUTION: The hydroxyl group-containing compound is produced by reacting an aromatic compound having a double bond with a water solution containing 1ppb-500ppm of the acid catalyst, wherein the molar ratio of water/the aromatic compound is 1-50, a reaction temperature is 200-600deg.C, and a reaction pressure is 1-100MPa. The acid catalyst is one of hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, ortho-phosphoric acid, and meta-phosphoric acid. And the aromatic compound having a double bond is a monoolefin or a diolefin.
