PURPOSE: A video signal processing apparatus is provided to convert digitally a SYNC(SYNChronization) separated signal from a brightness signal into a brightness signal having much more information, thereby capable of displaying a good image when inputting a signal with high quality. CONSTITUTION: A control member(160) confirms a format of a video signal and then outputs low and high resolution control signals according to the resolution. An input signal converting member(110) outputs a brightness signal corresponding to the input signal to a horizontal pulse SYNC separating member(170) according to the high resolution control signal and outputs the brightness signal to an A/D(Analog/Digital) converting member(120) according to the low resolution control signal. The horizontal pulse SYNC separating member separates a signal and SYNC from the inputted brightness signal, outputs the SYNC separated signal to the A/D converting member and outputs the horizontal pulse to a digital signal combination member. The A/D converting member converts the SYNC loaded brightness signal and the SYNC separated signal into a constant bit and then outputs the converted signal to the digital signal combination member.
