PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling directional angle of an antenna are provided to permit the antenna to be oriented to a satellite even when a moving body suddenly turns. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises an antenna(101), an antenna rotation unit(102), an angular velocity detection unit(103), a GPS receiving unit(105), and a control unit(104). The antenna receives waves transmitted from a satellite. The antenna rotation unit rotates the antenna in accordance with the movement of a moving body. The angular velocity detection unit detects angular velocity varying in accordance with the movement of the moving body. The GPS receiving unit receives, as terrestrial coordinates, coordinates at a first point and a second point measured before the changed angular velocity is judged as a threshold value, and coordinates at a third point and a fourth point measured after the changed angular velocity is judged as a threshold value. The control unit judges whether the changed angular velocity is higher than the threshold value, calculates a rotation angle of the moving body from the terrestrial coordinates and transmits a directional angle control signal for controlling the directional angle of the antenna to the antenna rotation unit.
