<p>Packing media (11) are used for treating, e.g. biologically treating, waste water, said packing media (11) being formed by strips (19) made of plastic. The strips (19) are used as carriers for biological growth, the surfaces (21) of which are used to biologically treat waste water. The growth surfaces (21) of adjacent strips (19) tend to stick together, whereby the growth surface (21) available for biological treatment may be significantly reduced, hampering the performance of previously known packing media (11). The aim of the invention is to prevent the strips (19) from sticking together, thereby preventing the effective growth surfaces (21) from being reduced. Said aim is achieved by fixing the lower ends of the strips (19) to spacing means, e.g. spacer strips (22), whereby the plastic strips (19) are fixed in a specific position. Additionally, at least one movable stripper is allocated to the plastic strips, by means of which the biological growth forming on the growth surfaces of the strips can be removed as required.</p> |
