PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting a spurious component in an unattended base station monitoring device are provided to diagnose a spurious component in an in-band of a reception frequency by minimizing a change in an unattended base station monitor. CONSTITUTION: A band filter(10) filters a reception RF signal which has passed an LNA(Low Noise Amplifier) to a pre-set band. An IF(Intermediate Frequency) converter(20) mixes a local signal varied according to a control signal with the reception RF signal outputted from the band filter(10) to extract an IF. A narrowband filter(30) filters the IF which has been extracted by the IF converter(20). A detector(40) detects an RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indicate) from an output signal of the narrowband filter(30). A controller(50) determines whether the RSSI satisfies a predetermined standard value, generates an alarm if the RSSI exceeds the standard value, transmits a measurement result to an upper layer, and transfers the control signal for varying the local signal to the IF converter(20).
