This invention is a traction device consisting of wire mesh encased in a rectangular frame. The frame is intended to be used to maximize wheel traction in a situation whereby a vehicle's wheels lack the ability to effectively grip a slippery driving surface, when a vehicle is in a stationary position. Spinning wheels due to the lack of traction on a slippery driving surface grip onto the frame and allow the vehicle to procee d from a stationary position. A description of the rectangular frame is as follows. Galvanized wire mesh i s doubled in thickness and is incased in a light weight metal rectangular frame. The oute r edge of the frame is lined with a grated rubber edging, so that no metal edges are exposed. The rectangular device is placed onto the driving surface that is covered by sno w or ice in front of the tire(s) responsible for forward driving motion. The wire mesh i s grated sufficiently small (1.2 cm. Squares) to grip vehicle tires so that maximum traction is achieved and tire spinning is thereby terminated. The combination of the weight of the vehicle and the grated rubberized edge holds the device in place as the vehicle slowly drives over the frame, thereby improving traction between the tires and the driving surface.
