PURPOSE: A method for tracking a location of a mobile terminal is provided to track a location of a mobile terminal by using an RTD(Round Trip Delay) between the mobile terminal and a base station without using a location tracking equipment and incurring a cost for tracking the location of the mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: When a mobile terminal(200) moves from a base station 'A' to a base station 'B', from the base station 'B' to a base station 'C', and then from the base station 'C' to a base station 'D', the mobile terminal(200) registers its location with the base stations(A-D) in turn through signal transmission/reception according to the cell area location change, and transmits RTD information for calculating each distance between the base stations(A-D) and the mobile terminal to an HLR(Home Location Register)(206) of an MSC(Mobile Switching Center)(204). Then, a BSC(Base Station Controller)(202) recognizes each location of the mobile terminal(200) calculated as the same distance between adjacent base stations according to the movement of the mobile terminal(200) by using the RTD and base station position information, and then tracks each location of the mobile terminal(200) through a path(L1) or a path(L2) by connecting locations of the mobile terminal(200).
