PURPOSE: A welding device and a welding method are provided to prevent welding failure, and to arrange the welded section easily and accurately corresponding to position of the welding electrode by deciding the position of the welded pipe according to irradiation of display light. CONSTITUTION: A welding device is composed of a welding machine body(8) and an electrode position display unit(6) installed to the welding machine body to display the axial position of a welding electrode to welded pipes(4,5). The welding machine body is composed of a head part(1), an electrode part, a fixing clamp(3) gripping the welded pipes, a cover plate(9) installed to the fixing clamp and a mounting part(7) installed to the cover plate. The electrode position display unit irradiates the light to the welded pipe according to position of the welding electrode.
