The device has an indexing unit (4) defining indexing positions upstream reference position. A sliding unit slides a pallet with respect to a conveyor with free transfer in a direction. A transferring unit (6) with reversible coupling mechanism is fixed to the pallet for driving the pallet more rapidly than the conveyor, from initial reference position to the indexing position.
