PURPOSE: To provide a jig for determining whether axial alignment of a punch and a die are in an allowable range or not in a self-piercing type rivet setting machine, and a method for determining axial alignment or misalignment of the punch with respect to the die by using the jig. CONSTITUTION: The jig(30) for determining axial alignment or misalignment of a punch(9) with respect to a die is used in an apparatus in which the punch is moved in an axial direction with respect to the die to form clamping, to which the die is held in such a way that the die is removable from a bore(11), and in which the punch and the die are mounted on a frame(2), wherein the jig comprises a shank(31) and a head(33), the jig is constructed in such a way that the jig is used instead of the die while the shank is fitted in the bore with the die being adjacent to the frame, the head has an axial hole(35) into which the punch is capable of being inserted when an axis of the punch is aligned with an axis of the bore, or misalignment of the punch relative to the bore is within a predetermined range, and a part of the head adjacent to the hole is constructed in such a manner that the relation between the punch and the hole can be seen. |
