PURPOSE: A process for preparing clarithromycin of crystal form II is provided, thereby easily preparing clarithromycin of crystal form II in higher yield and purity from crude clarithromycin. CONSTITUTION: The process for preparing clarithromycin of crystal form II comprises the steps of: (i) suspending crude clarithromycin in a mixed solvent of water and water-soluble solvent; (ii) adding one or more of inorganic acid selected from NaHSO3, Na2S2O5, monopotassium phosphate and monosodium phosphate into the suspension to dissolve clarithromycin in a form of double salt; and (iii) neutralizing the dissolved clarithromycin double salt to crystallize it, wherein the water-soluble solvent is selected from acetone, tetrahydrofuran, methanol, ethanol and isopropanol; and the inorganic base is selected from sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, sodium carbonate and sodium hydrocarbonate.
